Advocate for Self

Leaders obtain and maintain positions through self-advocacy.  Self-advocacy has been defined as a person's ability to communicate effectively and to negotiate or assert her own interests, desires, needs and rights.  Becoming a skill self-advocate entails learning how to obtain pertinent information and self-assess strengths, weaknesses, needs, and goals.  One must effectively communicate to others so that others hear and respect your opinion.
