International Experience Summary:

The Summer Community Health Program is a seven-week program at Pontificia Universidad Catolíca Madre y Maestra (PUCM). Six weeks of the program consists of intensive language and health care courses.  Three required courses are offered: Advanced Spanish Conversation and Grammar, Pre-Professional Health Care Issues, and Community Health Practicum.  All courses are taught in Spanish by faculty from PUCMM alongside students from the university.  The Conversation and Grammar class increased my proficiency in Spanish, while the two health courses provided me with an introduction to basic health care issues in a Hispanic Caribbean context.  Each course is worth 3 semester hour credits for a total of 9 semester credits for the program.
